Splatoon on Wii U was one of Polygon's favorite games of last year. Nintendo's good-natured ink-gun game offers a fresh take on shooters.
If you're a Wii U owner and you haven't had a chance to play the game, Nintendo is offering a free multiplayer trial, later this month. From Aug. 25 to Aug. 28 between the hours of 3 and 5 p.m. PT each day, a Splatoon demo will be available to download and play.
The Splatoon Testfire demo includes multiplayer mode Turf War in which four players seek to cover the most territory possible with ink. Four weapons and two maps will be available to play, for anyone with an online connection.
"It’s one of the core modes of Splatoon and is the perfect introduction to what the game has to offer," stated Nintendo in a press release. The company says Splatoon has sold more than four million copies since its launch in May, 2015.
