The Tomorrow Children, the next game from Pixeljunk series developers Q-Games, will be playable via an early access program on PlayStation 4 beginning next month.
This news comes via the PlayStation Blog, which says the game’s Founders Pack will go on sale beginning Sept. 6. The pack (and thus early access to the game) will cost $19.99, though Q-Games president Dylan Cuthbert says that will cover over $30 worth of content.
Beyond simply letting people play the game, The Tomorrow Children Founders Pack will include a number of paid downloadable content additions and 1000 "Freeman Dollars," which appears to be the game’s form of currency for real money transactions. Among the items that come with the Founders Pack: two licenses that provide access to more powerful tools and weapons from the start of the game, a special "miner gear" costume and a freaking jetpack.
Anyone who purchases a Founders Pack will also get the ability to invite five friends to play the game. This will grant those friends free-to-play access to The Tomorrow Children, with the option to upgrade to the Founders Pack if they enjoy it.
Cuthbert says that the proper free-to-play version of The Tomorrow Children will launch "in the coming months," at which point the Founders Pack will be replaced by "the Frontier Pack bundle." Details on what that pack will contain and how it will differ from the Founders Pack are yet to be announced.
So what actually is The Tomorrow Children? Check out our video below for a look at a beta for the strange game that we checked out earlier this year.
