Japanese artist Yoji Shinkawa, who is responsible for much of the character and mechanical design for the Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders games, recently unveiled his take on iconic monster Godzilla. Shinkawa’s interpretation, which is being developed as part of a promotional crossover featuring Godzilla and Evangelion, will be made into a pre-painted figure.
The "NERV-produced G Weapon" reimagining of Godzilla will be released by Japanese toymaker Sentinel (which is also developing a statue of the new Kojima Productions mascot Ludens). The project apparently came about as part of the latest Godzilla movie, Shin Godzilla, which was directed by Neon Genesis Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno.
Here’s a look at the figure’s concept art:

The Godzilla vs. Evangelion project has tapped a number of famous Japanese artists, including Godzilla designers Yuji Kaida and Shinji Nishikawa; Macross designer Hidetaka Tenjin; and pop artists Takashi Murakami, Yurie Sekiya and Rockin’ Jelly Bean to offer their own interpretations on the giant monster crossover.
Release details and price for Shinkawa’s Godzilla figure have not been announced.
Shinkawa is currently working with the reborn Kojima Productions on the studio’s first title, Death Stranding.
