ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove coming 2017 from Adult Swim

Funk levels to dramatically increase soon on console and PC

The next game in the nearly 25-year-old ToeJam & Earl franchise, ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove, is coming to console and PC platforms in 2017, courtesy of Adult Swim Games. First gameplay footage of Back in the Groove can be seen in a newly released teaser trailer.

ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove will see the titular duo once again returning to Earth, doing their best to deal with its human inhabitants and piecing together their Rapmaster Rocketship. Developer Humanature Studios and Adult Swim describe Back in the Groove as "a mash-up of the very best features from the classic console games [ToeJam & Earl and Panic on Funkotron], with a pile of new features thrown in." In other words, ToeJam & Earl’s creators say, they want to give old-school fans "a pure blast of funky nostalgia" and new ones a taste of the series’ brand of "light-hearted, co-op play."

The new ToeJam & Earl was crowdfunded through Kickstarter in 2015 and was originally estimated for release last year. The game was originally planned for release on Linux, Mac and Windows PC, with console versions (PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox One) listed as stretch goals, though those stretch goals weren’t met.
