The developers of Owlboy, a gorgeous-looking flying adventure platformer, say they’ll release their game on Steam this fall. It’s been a long time coming; development on Owlboy started in 2008.

D-Pad Studio posted a new gameplay trailer for Owlboy today and added that the long-awaited platformer will finally be released in just a few months. The developer said it has an announcement planned for PAX West at its Owlboy panel on Sept. 5, where we expect more details.

Owlboy is described by its creators as a "high-bit," open-world adventure game where you are gifted with the power of flight. Players control Otus, who can carry anything, explore dungeons, fight giant bosses and recruit friends in battles against sky pirates.

Owlboy was nominated for excellence in visual arts at the 2013 Independent Game Festival and awarded "best in play" at GDC Play 2015.

Check out the new Owlboy trailer for D-Pad Studios’ "love letter to pixel art for a new audience."
