Mark McMorris won’t be the only professional snowboarder in the video game that bears his name — five other athletes will be playable in Mark McMorris Infinite Air, publisher Maximum Games announced today.
McMorris, a 12-time medalist at the Winter X Games, will be joined by his brother Craig McMorris, as well as Silje Norendal, Torstein Horgmo, Ulrik Badertscher and Danny Davis. You can see them in action in the trailer above and screenshots below.
"Working closely with the development of Infinite Air and getting these amazing riders involved in the game has been incredible," Mark McMorris said in a statement.
Maximum Games also announced a release date today for Infinite Air, which is being made by the Canadian indie developer HB Studios. The game is scheduled to be available Oct. 25, both digitally and at retail, for $49.99 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. Pre-orders are now available in both the U.S. and Canada; each platform has its own pre-order bonus, a pack of in-game accessories like clothing and snowboards.
In an interview with Polygon earlier this year, HB Studios said it wants Infinite Air to do for the snowboarding genre what Electronic Arts’ Skate series did for skateboarding — namely, to offer a simulation-oriented gameplay experience with full analog control over your rider’s movements. Like HB Studios’ previous title, 2014’s The Golf Club, Infinite Air will also include a course editor with which players will be able to create and share entire mountains’ worth of snowboarding activities.
