TowerFall Ascension, the frenetic local multiplayer archery game by indie developer Matt Thorson, is on its way to Xbox One, Thorson announced recently.

Thorson said that Dark World, an expansion to the game that includes an additional mode and more, is also coming to Xbox One. He did not provide a release window for TowerFall Ascension, but it’s currently in a playable state — Thorson said, "I’m playing it and it’s awesome."

TowerFall debuted in June 2013 as an exclusive for the Ouya microconsole. Thorson ported the game with a new title — TowerFall Ascension — to PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Linux and Mac in 2014, and to PlayStation Vita in 2015. Dark World was also released in 2015.

In addition to announcing the Xbox One version of TowerFall Ascension, Thorson put up TowerFall 8-Player, his official eight-player mod for the game. Thorson is selling TowerFall 8-Player as a stand-alone product that does not include the core TowerFall game — it only features the versus mode, and is "heavily modified" for five- to eight-player matches, said Thorson. TowerFall 8-Player, which is available only on Windows, is selling for at least $8.88; the full game costs $14.99.
