Bill Nye the Science Guy is returning to television, to the delight of anyone who studied elementary school science in the 1990s. Bill Nye Saves the World will premiere exclusively on Netflix next spring, the streaming service announced in a press release.
The show will again feature Nye’s beloved combination of scientific knowhow, wit and fashion sense. Unlike the original public television program, though, Saves the World is a talk show. Nye will conduct experiments and interview guests in an effort to better educate the masses about science.
That includes getting more political than the original Bill Nye show ever did, according to Netflix. The larger goal of Saves the World is to put an end to "anti-scientific claims that may be espoused by politicians, religious leaders or titans of industry." This is in keeping with Bill Nye’s public appearances as of late, where he takes an active stance against widely disseminated misinformation about climate change, vaccinations and other debated issues.
