This single-player Hearthstone Tavern Brawl is the most fun we've had in the game in months

Here at Polygon, we love playing checking out Hearthstone's weekly Tavern Brawl challenges. Some are better than others, but it's always fun seeing what new way Blizzard has twisted its great card game.

This week's Brawl represents one of the most interesting and fun twists yet. Blizzard has run a handful of cooperative challenges and dozens of multiplayer modes in Tavern Brawl, but this is the first time it's ever had a completely single-player brawl. And it's brilliant.

In the "Storming Stormwind" Brawl, Blizzard has successfully transformed Hearthstone into a survival mode, high score chase. It's similar to the single-player boss fights from Hearthstone's adventure packs — like the upcoming One Night in Karazhan — except there's no way to actually win. You just keep going as long as you can, getting your total damage dealt as high as humanly possible, until the opponent kills you or you run out of cards and mill yourself to death.

It takes us a while to find a deck that works, but be sure to watch the video above to the end for our final deck — a priest setup that gets our score pretty high. For more Hearthstone fun, take a look at our full YouTube playlist.
