Buzz! developer Relentless Software shuts down

PlayStation party game maker closes after 13 years

U.K. studio Relentless Software, best known for its work on the Buzz! quiz game series for PlayStation platforms, has closed its doors after 13 years, GamesIndustry reports.

Relentless Software released its first Buzz! title, Buzz!: The Music Quiz for PlayStation 2, in 2005. The studio developed a dozen games in the franchise, which sold more than 10 million copies across PS2, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.

The studio went on to develop games for Microsoft’s Kinect Fun Labs and Kinect Nat Geo TV, an interactive television program for the Xbox 360’s motion sensor accessory. Relentless’ first self-published title, Blue Toad Murder Files: The Mysteries of Little Riddle, was later released as Murder Files for mobile and web platforms.

Earlier this year, Relentless announced plans to open a new studio in Wales and hoped to create 70 jobs at its second location. The studio intended to develop projects in partnership with Hasbro.
