Pokémon trainers are getting a second chance to download Darkrai

Mythical Pokémon Darkrai will be available to download again next month for Pokémon fans who subscribe to the Pokémon Trainer Club newsletter. It’s a rare chance to grab an even rarer Pokémon, particularly for those who missed out on GameStop’s distribution earlier this year.

The level 100 Darkrai code comes exclusively in the September issue of the monthly Trainer Club circular and expires on Nov. 30. To ensure a code, Pokémon players need to sign up before Aug. 24. Once the code is distributed, they can import the powerful dark-type into Pokémon Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, X and Y.

Since the code expires after Pokémon Sun and Moon launch, it raises the question whether Darkrai can make it into the newer Nintendo 3DS games as well. That’s unconfirmed, although the Pokémon Bank transfer app will allow players to bring over their Pokémon from such games as Omega Ruby and the Virtual Console versions of the original Game Boy titles.

Some may not want their inboxes cluttered with more promotional material, however, preferring to pick up their Pokémon goods from brick and mortar stores. In that case, GameStops nationwide are handing out codes for the Pokémon deity Arceus through Aug. 24. That’s the latest character offered in the yearlong promotion, which gives away a new legendary Pokémon each month.
