Here's your first look at Arrival, the new sci-fi film from the director of Sicario

It's Amy Adams versus a group of aliens

The first full-length trailer for Denis Villeneuve's new sci-fi epic, Arrival, will be released next week, but Paramount Pictures has published a one-minute teaser trailer to hold fans over in the meantime.

Arrival, which stars Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker, follows an expert linguist (Adams) after an alien spaceship crash lands on Earth. It's up to her character, Dr. Louise Banks, to figure out if the aliens that survived the crash come in peace or are a threat to humanity's very existence.

The film is based on a short piece called Story of Your Life, written by Ted Chang, and published in 1998. The short story delves into the political ideologies surrounding relationships between people of different backgrounds in the United States. It was awarded the Nebula Award for Best Novella in 2000.

Arrival is set to be released Nov. 11.
