Ever Oasis invades dungeons, towns and Nintendo 3DS next year

An oasis in the release calendar desert

Action role-playing game Ever Oasis launches in 2017, Nintendo announced this morning.

The Nintendo 3DS game was first announced during the company’s E3 2016 livestream, and its appearance in this morning’s Nintendo Direct presentation brought a longer look at the new franchise. A montage of dungeon-crawling, town-visiting and other gameplay features was shown as part of the livestream.

Ever Oasis stars a hero named Tethu who gets up to much of the usual role-playing game business: exploring dungeons, fighting monsters and visiting towns. Visitors to Tethu’s hometown — or home desert, rather — can join on the character’s quest, however, and there’s a day-and-night cycle that switches up gameplay accordingly.

Japanese studio Grezzo is developing Ever Oasis. It’s the first 3DS game from the studio since last fall’s The Legend of Zelda: Tri-Force Heroes.
