Tank Troopers brings multiplayer tank battles to eShop

Downloadable title out this winter

Nintendo revealed Tank Troopers during this morning's Nintendo Direct presentation. The new multiplayer title hits Nintendo 3DS eShop later this year.

Quick gameplay footage from Tank Troopers was shown off during the livestream. Players assume the role of one of several soldiers, each of whom drives a customized tank based on their unique abilities. These include firing paintballs, electric shocks and freezing powers. Traveling across the map, the goal is to take down opposing teams and rack up points.

The game supports the Download Play feature as well as both online and local multiplayer options for up to six players. Although its multiplayer modes take center stage, Tank Troopers includes a single-player mode too. Nintendo divulged few details as to what that entails, however.

Tank Troopers will launch sometime this holiday season, Nintendo said. There are no pricing details or more specific release window than that as of now, nor has the publisher confirmed who's developing the downloadable action title.
