Dragon Quest 8: Journey of the Cursed King won't hit North America until next year, Nintendo announced during this morning's Direct presentation. The Nintendo 3DS remake, first scheduled for 2016, has been pushed into 2017.
Beyond that, there's still no specific release date for the 3DS port of the PlayStation 2 game yet. Japan's had the game for quite some time now, but Western fans of Square Enix's role-playing game franchise can make do with this fall's release of Dragon Quest 7 on Nintendo 3DS in the meantime.
That port of the original PlayStation 1 game arrives on Sept. 16, and Nintendo also revealed today that pre-orders net players an exclusive 3DS theme inspired by the game.
Unlike Dragon Quest 7, Dragon Quest 8 is also playable stateside on iOS and Android. Amazon recently offered the Android version free to customers, although the price has gone back up to $19.99 as of now.
