Nier: Automata gets a new trailer, release date for Tokyo Game Show

The action-RPG will be available in Japan, at least, early next year

Nier: Automata, the next iteration in Square Enix's bizarre action-role-playing game series, finally has a release date for Japan.

As part of Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference, Square revealed a new trailer for Nier: Automata. While the brief trailer was light on new details or footage of the game, it ended with the big news: The game will release in Japan on Feb. 2, 2017 for PlayStation 4.

It's unclear at the moment whether this release date is universal or if North America and other territories will need to wait longer. The game is also planned to launch for Windows PC, although it's unclear if that will be the same date as the PlayStation 4 launch.
