NBA 2K17 trailer reminds you of new teams for Kevin Durant, Dwyane Wade and more

Going for the gold

The release of the "Momentous" trailer for each NBA 2K game has become something of an annual event for fans of the franchise, and the one for NBA 2K17 doesn’t disappoint.

Set to the tune of "Gold" by Imagine Dragons, the two-and-a-half-minute trailer heads to NBA arenas around the league to show off some quiet moments and some furious action. It sets the stage with the Cleveland Cavaliers brandishing their brand-new championship rings, then moves to the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, to focus on the team the Cavaliers vanquished: the Golden State Warriors, now featuring Kevin Durant.

You’ll see many of the NBA’s most talented young stars in the trailer, from the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns to the Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard to the Orlando Magic’s Aaron Gordon to the Washington Wizards’ Bradley Beal. There are plenty of the usual suspects, too, like the Warriors’ Steph Curry, the New York Knicks’ Derrick Rose, the Chicago Bulls’ Dwyane Wade and the Cavs’ LeBron James. And along with the athletes come their shoes — the trailer takes the time to provide slow-motion shots for all you sneakerheads out there.

NBA 2K17 is set for release Sept. 20 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One; pre-order customers will be able to start playing this Friday, Sept. 16. In addition, interested parties can play the introduction to the NBA 2K17 career mode by downloading The Prelude right now on PS4 or Xbox One.
