Fall back in love with Team Ico, thanks to this emotional tribute

The Last Guardian is finally coming to complete the trifecta

PlayStation Japan honored Team Ico with a stylish, career-spanning montage during Tokyo Game Show this weekend, and it’s a heart-wrenching watch. The video above — which, despite that thirty-minute runtime, kicks off at 21 minutes in and lasts about three minutes — may just bring tears to the eyes of the studio’s fans, who have stayed devoted since Ico launched 15 years ago.

Starting with Ico, Team Ico’s first release, the montage uses a combination of in-game footage and stylized illustrations of Ico and follow-up Shadow of the Colossus’ most memorable moments. Remember Ico’s powerful bond with Yorda, his helpless charge? What about when Wander and Agro trudged through the vast unknown, en route to take down their first Colossus?

If you haven’t played these classic games yet, take heart: There’s not much in the way of spoilers here. Though it focuses half its runtime on Ico and Shadow of Colossus, the trailer’s main focus is to sell us on The Last Guardian. That’s the PlayStation 4 game that’s been in development for nearly 10 years and is finally set for a Dec. 6 launch.

First set for October, The Last Guardian received one final delay just before Tokyo Game Show earlier this month, but we’ve gotten our hands on it — both at TGS and at E3 2016 — and can confirm that it very much exists and is on its way.

See The Last Guardian in action for yourself below, and catch up with Team Ico’s first two classics with The Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection on PlayStation 3.
