Titanfall 2 will offer Attrition, the fan-favorite competitive multiplayer mode that was available in the original Titanfall, developer Respawn Entertainment confirmed today.
Attrition is a traditional team deathmatch mode with a Titanfall twist: Groups of AI-controlled soldiers, both human and robot, drop in across the map, and both teams can kill those minions. (You get a lot more points for killing pilots and titans than the minions.) Attrition was not available in Titanfall 2’s Multiplayer Tech Test, although one of the modes in the pre-alpha demo, Bounty Hunt, did include the AI enemies.
Respawn revealed the return of Attrition in Titanfall 2 in a news post about system requirements for the game’s Windows PC version. The studio brought in a prominent Twitch streamer of Titanfall, a user named Darkness429, to capture Attrition footage from PC on a new map, Eden. You can check out that video below.
Titanfall 2 is set for release Oct. 28 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
