Netflix in October: Everything coming and going

October is a time for fall-themed drinks, brisk walks to see the leaves change color and, of course, Halloween.

While there are plenty of thriller or horror-type films and television shows being added to Netflix this month, perhaps none are more exciting than the third seasons of Black Mirror and The Fall. Both series hail from England, with the first focusing on a dystopian future ruled by technology and the latter the continuation of a detective’s quest to capture a serial killer.

The third season of Black Mirror will be broken down into two parts, with the first debuting on Oct. 21. Unlike when it was being produced by the BBC and there were only six hour-long episodes a season, Netflix has ordered 12 episodes. The season will be broken down in half to keep to a similar schedule that creator Charlie Brooker had at the BBC, but each episode will still remain an hour in length. Netflix has not announced a release date for the second half of the season.

Also returning for a third season is The Fall, which stars Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan in the main roles. Last season ended with a reunion of sorts and left off with a major cliffhanger. Although some of those questions have been answered in teaser trailers and TV spots leading up to the release, more will be revealed on Oct. 29 when the new season is released. The first two seasons are currently available to binge right now.

There are also a few scary movies to go along with the new wave of thrilling shows heading to the service, but don’t get your hopes up for a whole slew of new titles. The Uninvited and The Queen of the Damned will both make their way to Netflix in October, along with a couple of true-crime documentaries for those looking for a more educational Halloween.

There are also some great titles leaving Netflix on Oct. 1, including The Exorcist, The Warriors and the complete Back to the Future trilogy will all be gone.
