Watch the launch trailer for multiplayer survival game Osiris: New Dawn

But will this early access game work at scale?

Charlie Hall is Polygon’s tabletop editor. In 10-plus years as a journalist & photographer, he has covered simulation, strategy, and spacefaring games, as well as public policy.

Osiris: New Dawn, the promising multiplayer spacefaring game from a tiny team, was released today into the Steam Early Access program. The $24.99 title also came with a launch day trailer, which you can see above.

We've had some early hands-on time with it at this year's PAX West and were blown away at the scope of the project, which you can see over the trailer's more than two-minute run time. The game has all the bells and whistles that made Ark: Survival Evolved a breakout hit, and crosses over into the same kinds of mechanics fans of Elite: Dangerous and No Man's Sky were so excited by when those games were first announced.

It's also got giant sand worms...

... 30-foot tall mechs ...

... and seamless transitions from land into orbit.

We've got a code, and hope to have some more time with the live version of the in-development game this weekend. For full details on the game, and our interview with one of its developers, check out our article here.
