Ubisoft’s anniversary celebrations continue with this month’s free download, The Crew. The open-world racing game will be given away to members of the Ubisoft Club on Windows PC starting Sept. 14.
The Crew, a socially focused driving simulator, launched in late 2014. Set across the U.S., the game includes both single- and multiplayer, each with various types of gameplay and some role-playing game elements. Despite early ambitions, The Crew received heavy criticism, especially for requiring players to always have an online connection in order to get into the game.
Ubisoft followed the game up with two expansions, one of which hits retail this November. The Crew: Calling All Units will give players the chance to chase down illegal street racers as police officers, and an Ultimate Edition bundle will include all previous downloadable content alongside the basic game.
As for Ubisoft’s 30th anniversary promotion, downloads are promised throughout the year. It’s required that Ubisoft Club members use Uplay to access the free PC games. The latest download, Rayman Origins, is still available until The Crew arrives; it’s free through Sept. 13.
