Watch 15 minutes of Super Bomberman R on the Nintendo Switch

Will be a launch title

Super Bomberman R will be available when the Nintendo Switch launches on March 3, Nintendo said today.

The company made the announcement during its Treehouse livestream event and showed off the first gameplay footage, which can be seen above. Super Bomberman R marks the first console version of the series since 2010, when Bomberman Live: Battlefest was released for Xbox Live Arcade.

The new grid-based game allows for up to eight players to go up against one another, either online or in local multiplayer. In Super Bomberman R, players must try to trap their opponents in the grid and drop bombs to cause as much damage as possible.

On top of the traditional battle mode, Super Bomberman R is introducing a co-op story mode that can be played between two players. In story mode, players will move through 50 different stages. Nintendo announced that prominent voice actors will make an appearance in the game to create a more inviting environment for players, although the company didn’t mention any names during the gameplay presentation.

The Nintendo Switch will be able to purchase on March 3 for $299. Pre-orders went live last night at most major retailers, including GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart and Target.
