John Wick: Chapter 2 is one of the first big movies hitting theaters this year, and Lionsgate has released some new still images from the film ahead of its release.
Most of the photos feature Wick (Keanu Reeves) looking characteristically upset. The more intriguing photos, however, feature some of the new assassins Wick will have to take on in the sequel, including Ares (Ruby Rose). Winston (Ian McShane) and Common’s unnamed, mysterious character also make appearances in the photos.
Reeves and director Chad Stahelski provided some details about the sequel during New York Comic Con, including information about the characters Rose and Common would be playing. Stahelski said the list of assassins Wick will have to take on continues to grow in Chapter 2. Wick’s initial run ins with Rose and Common’s characters, though, are just there to lead Wick to the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne). Stahelski confirmed that the Bowery King was somewhat of an ally to Wick, but couldn’t provide many more details.
Thanks to The Playlist, we also have an official synopsis for the film.
In this next chapter following the 2014 hit, legendary hitman John Wick [Keanu Reeves] is forced back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.
John Wick: Chapter 2 will be released on Feb. 10, 2017.
