Funimation is bringing Your Name, one of Japan’s most successful, feature-length anime films to North American theaters in April.
The company announced it picked up the distribution rights in a press release today, adding the film would be available to watch with either English subtitles or through a dubbed version. The film, which was named Best Animated Feature by the Los Angeles Film Critics, is one of 27 feature films under consideration for an Oscar nomination.
Your Name follows two teenagers, Mitsuha and Taki, who mysteriously swap bodies one night. Although they’re total strangers, their lives immediately become intertwined. As their connection to each other grows, they eventually try to meet up with one another. Your Name is directed by Makoto Shinkai, best known for The Garden of Words.
Funimation confirmed the film will be available in select theaters on April 7, but hasn’t announced which theaters will be carrying it at this time. More information, including when tickets will be available to purchase, will be released in the coming weeks.
