Murder puzzle game The Sexy Brutale coming in April

New trailer reveals more mysteries

Time-looping murder mystery The Sexy Brutale is coming out on April 12, according to an announcement and trailer from UK developer Cavalier.

We saw the quirky puzzle game back in August and were impressed by its unique take on that hoary old favorite, the mansion party mystery murder spree. In The Sexy Brutale, players take on the role of a priest who must solve a series of killings. The resolutions are bound up in masks worn by guests at a ball.

"Their masks relate to their personality and the kind of deaths and situations they're getting into," said narrative director Jim Griffiths, in an interview with Polygon. "Once you save them, the power you are unlocking relates also to their personality and their masks."

But a time-loop adds unusual complications to proceedings. "It's intrigue," Griffiths added. "It's murder mystery. It's about grabbing players with the story and providing those moments where it's like, what is going on there?"

The Sexy Brutale is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
