Blizzard Entertainment’s newest seasonal event for Overwatch, Year of the Rooster, is now live, bringing a new batch of cosmetic items and a new gameplay mode, Capture the Rooster, to the game.
Overwatch’s take on capture the flag takes place on Lijiang Tower. Players must secure the enemy flag while the opposing team tries to do the same. “In this fast-paced brawl, players will need to get creative with their team compositions as they attempt construct a lineup that’s simultaneously built for offensive speed and defensive stability,” Blizzard said of the limited-time game mode.
Today’s update also brings more than 100 new cosmetic items — character skins, sprays, voice lines, emotes and more — to Overwatch. These include Journey to the West-inspired skins for characters like Zenyatta, Winston and Roadhog, as well as event-themed skins for Mercy and Junkrat.

Year of the Rooster is available today for the PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One versions of Overwatch. The event runs through Feb. 13.
