Dominic West, best known for playing Detective James “Jimmy” McNulty in HBO’s The Wire, has joined the live-action reboot of Tomb Raider.
West will play Lara Croft’s father, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It was confirmed in April 2016 that Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander would play the titular hero in MGM and Warner Bros.’ reboot of the series. Walton Goggins (Django Unchained, Justified) will star opposite Vikander as Father Mathias Vogel, with Into the Badlands actor Daniel Wu also on board.
The movie is a reboot of Angelina Jolie’s 2001 film, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. That movie grossed just under $275 million at the worldwide box office, and earned a sequel in 2003. Jolie reprised her role as Croft in Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, which pulled in just over $156 million worldwide.
Tomb Raider is currently in production and is slated to hit theaters March 18, 2018.
