Acer's $8,999 notebook might weigh more than your desktop

A curved screen, dual GTX 1080s and 19 lbs of power

Acer Predator 21 X notebook

Computer maker Acer announced pricing and availability of its colossal notebook, the Predator 21 X, at CES 2017 this week, revealing a hefty price tag to match the laptop’s hefty specs. The 21-inch notebook, which will be released in February, is priced at a whopping $8,999.

Acer boasts that the Predator 21 X is the world’s first notebook with a curved screen. That screen features a 21:9 aspect ratio, 2560 x 1080 resolution, a 120 GHz refresh rate and Nvidia’s G-Sync technology.

The notebook also includes dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphic cards, an Intel Core i7-7820HK CPU, 64 GB of DDR4-2400 RAM and can support up to four 512 GB solid state drives, according to Acer. All that hardware adds up to 19.4 pounds of notebook.

For something a little more affordable, Acer has also upgraded the lower-end Predator 17 X laptop. The 17 X line now includes models with an Intel Core i7-7820HK processor and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 GPU with 8 GB GDDR5X video memory. The Acer Predator 17 X Gaming Notebook will start at $2,599.
