Injustice 2, the follow-up to Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm’s superhero brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us, will launch May 16, 2017. Director Ed Boon tweeted out the date on his personal Twitter account, adding no other details.
The official NetherRealm Twitter account later confirmed the release date, specifying that it applies to the Americas.
We first saw Injustice 2 last June, just after leaked promo posters appeared to confirm that the game was coming. A trailer debuted just before E3 2016 last year, while a gameplay trailer later that week showed characters like Supergirl and Black Manta in action.
Other popular heroes that will appear in the game are Harley Quinn and Deadshot, as Warner Bros. confirmed in August. Harley was a fan favorite in the first Injustice game, and her big-screen debut in last summer’s Suicide Squad only made her even more popular with comics lovers.
Developed again by NetherRealm, Injustice 2 is headed to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Injustice: Gods Among Us launched in 2013 across numerous platforms to critical acclaim.
