Taps Tick actor as the voce of villain Kang the Conqueror

Kang the Conqueror, a time-traveling villain whose history is not worth untangling here, is coming to threaten the entire Marvel Universe. No, not the comics universe. And not the cinematic universe.

The Lego Marvel Universe.

A story trailer for Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 introduces us to Kang, the host of Marvel superheroes who’ll band together to stop him (snapping together a veritable mountain of bricks along the way), and the brave soul who’ll organize them — Cosmo, the telepathic Russian space dog who’s BFFs with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 is co-written by comic book veteran Kurt Busiek, the mind behind the 2001 “Kang Dynasty” arc of Avengers, in which the eponymous villain successfully takes over the world. The story eventually culminates in a giant holographic projection of Kang duking it out with a giant holographic projection of Captain America, in space, which honestly seems perfect for a Lego game.

The Kang of Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 will be voiced by Peter Serafinowicz, who plays The Tick in the Amazon Prime series of the same name and played Denarian Saal, a member of the Nova Corps, in Guardians of the Galaxy.

A statement from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment says that the game’s branching narrative will be set in “Ancient Egypt, The Old West, Sakaar, New York City in 2099 and many other Marvel settings.” Sakaar is the planet on which the Hulk was once captured and pressed into a gladiatorial arena, a story which served as inspiration for this November’s Thor: Ragnarok. With a release date of Nov. 14, Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 will be just in time to capitalize on the planet’s rise in prominence.
