Street Fighter 5’s newest character is Zeku

Coming Oct. 24

Street Fighter 5’s next, and last character for this season of DLC, is Zeku. Announced in this trailer at the South East Asia Major tournament in Singapore, Zeku confirms knowledgeable fighting game fans’ suspicions about who would close out the roster this year.

Zeku will be available for purchase beginning Oct. 24. He follows Menat, revealed about a month ago. In both cases, sneak peek silhouettes of Street Fighter 5’s character selection stage helped to predict their arrival.

Zeku appears to be a conventional fighter within Street Fighter’s chop-socky milieu; he’s helped out by a nifty disappear/reappear theme and a special attack that ages him like good cheddar. If I’m not mistaken, he also goes through a few costume changes mid-fight in this trailer.

Zeku’s backstory, according to Capcom:

First seen in Street Fighter Alpha 2, Zeku was Guy’s former teacher, who taught him to master Bushinryu, a style of ninjutsu. Eventually, Guy was able to obtain the title of 39th Master of Bushinryu. Zeku then disappeared and was never seen again…until now! Zeku has reappeared looking to start his own ninja group and find a new fighting style.

Zeku’s Street Fighter Alpha 2 appearance came as a non-playable character in the game’s training mode. This will be the first time users can play him in the series.
