While much of the talk around Star Wars and single-player games based on the franchise hasn’t been rosy this week, a new trailer for Star Wars Battlefront 2, one that focuses on the game’s story-based campaign, offers a bit of hope.
Star Wars Battlefront 2’s single-player trailer quickly sets up the story: The Emperor is dead after the destruction of the second Death Star, and Imperial Commander Iden Versio is going to do her part to exact revenge on the Rebellion.
While the rest of the trailer is dripping with classic Star Wars imagery — TIE Fighters, X-Wings, AT-ATs and the Millennium Falcon all appear — the single-player campaign teaser also reinforces that this is a Star Wars game of multiple eras. There are cameos from Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, as we knew them in the original trilogy, as well as appearances from Maz Kanata and Kylo Ren from the sequel era. And hey, AT-ATs being delivered to Naboo? That’s neat.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be released on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on Nov. 17.
