Super Mario Odyssey guide: Cascade Kingdom all power moon locations

How to find every power moon in the Cascade Kingdom

There are two kinds of collectibles in nearly every Super Mario Odyssey kingdom: power moons and coins. In this guide, we’ll show you where to find the Cascade Kingdom’s power moons. (For the regional coins, see our Cascade Kingdom purple regional coins guide.)

Power moons 18, 19, 21-23 and 25 are only available after you complete the campaign. Moons 26-40 are only available after you break the moon rock.

How to find all Cascade Kingdom power moons

Our power moons guide puts the collectibles in the same order as Super Mario Odyssey.

1. Our First Power Moon

You’ll find this power moon when you first visit the Cascade Kingdom. You can’t miss it.

2. Multi Moon Atop the Falls

You’ll get three power moons for defeating the area boss.

3. Chomp Through the Rocks

In the area with four Chain Chomps, use Cappy to control the one pictured above. Hit the discolored section of the wall to collect this power moon.

4. Behind the Waterfall

You’ll find this power moon behind the waterfall, but you’ll need to hop over a wall while you’re 2-D Mario. Jump up to hit the invisible block that we’re just about to jump on in the image above.

5. On Top of the Rubble

Nintendo

This power moon is sitting on a pile of rocks just beyond the Odyssey — between your ship and the shops.

6. Treasure of the Waterfall Basin

Swim through the water between the waterfalls, and you’ll find a cave. Inside, there’s a chest that you can throw Cappy at for a power moon.

7. Above a High Cliff

Use the first Chain Chomp you come across, use Cappy to take it over, and smash the rock on the nearby wall. You’ll unveil a pipe. Take it, and collect the power moon on top.

8. Across the Floating Isles

Nintendo

At the northern end of where you fought the area boss there are three floating platforms and a power moon waiting for you on one.

9. Cascade Kingdom Timer Challenge 1

Between the two waterfalls, you’ll find a scarecrow. Throw Cappy on it, and cross the moving platforms to collect this power moon.

10. Cascade Kingdom Timer Challenge 2

Nintendo

In the same area where you fought the area boss, you’ll find a scarecrow. Throw you hat on it, and a bunch of blocks will appear. Jump up before the timer runs out to claim your power moon.

11. Good Morning, Captain Toad!

Off the side of the area where you fought the area boss, you’ll find a big silver block. Hop onto its platform and look down for another platform to drop down to. There, you’ll meet Captain Toad, who’ll reward you with a power moon.

12. Dinosaur Nest: Big Cleanup!

Behind the red hat door near the Top of the Big Stump flag, you’ll get to become a dinosaur. Destroy all of the enemies in the room to get this power moon.

13. Dinosaur Nest: Running Wild!

Behind the red hat door near the Top of the Big Stump flag, you’ll get to become a dinosaur. Instead of destroying all of the enemies in the room, walk off the side of the cliff to the area below. Destroy all of the bricks between you and the trampoline. One of them unleash a power moon.

14. Nice Shot with the Chain Chomp!

You’ll need to line up shots with the Chain Chomps in three rooms to get this power moon. Check out the gallery above for the correct angles.

15. Very Nice Shot with the Chain Chomp!

In the area where you receive the first power moon, walk up to where the camera is and to the right of the screen. You’ll find a hidden room and one more Chain Chomp puzzle to solve. Check out the gallery above to see the correct angle.

16. Past the Chasm Lifts

By the Stone Bridge flag and warp point, you’ll find a red door with a hat on it. (Check out the gallery above for the exact location.) Follow the path through, and this power moon awaits.

17. Hidden Chasm Passage

Enter through the same red hat door as the previous power moon. This time, though, you’ll take a hidden path. Between the first and second big rooms, when you’re 3-D again, jump down to the grassy platform underneath you (instead of heading through the green pipe

18. Secret Path to Fossil Falls!

Super Mario Odyssey’s warp paintings are incredibly confusing. They seem to change from game to game in a way that, thus far, we can’t explain. (In fact, we’re perfectly open to the possibility that at least some of them are random, which would explain our consternation.) So we’re going to do two things here: show you how we found this secret path, and show you a gallery of all warp painting locations in the game.

The good news is that the locations of the paintings don’t change. However, the painting you see in a kingdom may be different. For example, we saw a painting of the Luncheon Kingdom in Wooded Kingdom. You may not. If that’s the case, check out the gallery below and make your way to another kingdom.

Seaside Kingdom

Travel to Seaside Kingdom. After you beat the boss there, swim and climb up to any of the water spouts. They’ll fling you to where the boss used to be. Swim down from where you land, and you’ll find a painting. That will warp you to an island overlooking Cascade Kingdom. There, you’ll find a flag and a power moon.

Snow Kingdom

Travel to the Snow Kingdom, and take over the big, blowing cloud called a Ty-Foo. Fly around the Odyssey and to a brown part on the ice wall. Blow it to the other side, hop out of the monstrosity you took over and enter the painting. You’ll enter a plateau in the Lake Kingdom where the Viewing Balcony warp flag sits. Collect your power moon there.

All warp painting locations in all kingdoms

The gallery above shows the locations of all warp paintings in Super Mario Odyssey. There’s a pattern, too: The first image shows you where you’ll stand on the map facing the painting, while the second image shows you what the painting looks like.

19. A Tourist in the Cascade Kingdom

To get this power moon, you need to beat the game and return to the Sand Kingdom. Remember the taxi that’s always been there? Speak to a sombrero-wearing little guy, who’ll tell you that he can’t wait to take a ride. Then go to the Metro Kingdom and find him again. (It’s not hard. He’s right in front of you when you ride the wire to enter the city, and you’ll get a Metro Kingdom power moon for your trouble.) “I’d like to see a waterfall,” he’ll say. Return to the Cascade Kingdom, where you’ll find him and get this power moon.

20. Rolling Rock by the Falls

Cross the bridge between waterfalls and turn right. You’ll see two rocks partially buried near a cliff wall. Kick the one on the right a lot, and eventually you get this power moon.

21. Peach in the Cascade Kingdom

Nintendo

Warp to Fossil Falls Heights (which is above the waterfall). Talk to Peach above the waterfall to receive the power moon.

22. Cascade Kingdom Regular Cup

Speak to a Koopa near the Odyssey, who’ll offer you a race. Come in first to get the power moon.

23. Caveman Cave-Fan

Speak to a hat-wearing NPC in the northwest corner of the kingdom. “I heard there was a real caveman around here,” he’ll say. “I'd love to meet one!” Go back to the Odyssey and change into your caveman outfit. Return to speak to the NPC to collect your power moon.

24. Shopping in Fossil Falls

Nintendo

Buy this moon in the yellow shop for 100 coins.

25. Sphynx Traveling to the Waterfall

Use the green binoculars near the Odyssey, and scan the sky for until you see a Sphynx. Keep looking, and you’ll get a power moon.

26. Bottom of the Waterfall Basin

Nintendo

In the water between the waterfalls, you’ll find a glowing underwater area. Butt stomp it for a power moon.

27. Just a Hat, Skip, and a Jump

Nintendo

This power moon is off the northeast coast, several hat tosses and jumps away.

28. Treasure Under the Cliff

On the cliffside where you have to throw you hat to create temporary platforms and reach three purple coins, throw Cappy to the first platform and then jump up and bounce off the wall for this power moon.

29. Next to the Stone Arch

Nintendo

Off the side of the bridge that leads to the area where you fought the boss, you’ll see a moon. Jump off the side to collect it.

30. Guarded by a Colossal Fossil

Nintendo

This power moon is on the fossil’s nose. Climb out on the ledge and throw Cappy while holding down Y. He’ll spin for a few seconds, and you’ll get a power moon.

31. Under the Old Electrical Pole

Nintendo

Steer the T. Rex down toward the Odyssey, and use it to destroy the electrical pole. After it falls, do a ground pound on the glowing patch of grass for this power moon.

32. Under the Ground

Nintendo

Take control of the T. Rex and move him a few feet. Underneath where he originally was, you’ll see a glowing patch of grass. Ground pound it, and you’ll get a power moon. (You need to beat the game and smash the moon rock before this will be available.)

33. Inside the Busted Fossil

34. Caught Hopping at the Waterfall!

Nintendo

There’s a rabbit wearing a top hat and hanging out near the pool of water between the waterfalls. You’ll need to catch him to get his power moon.

35. Taking Notes: Hurry Upward

Nintendo

In the wall where you turn 2-D, you’ll find a treble clef. Hit it and collect all of the musical notes that spawn to receive this power moon.

37. Across the Mysterious Clouds

Enter what looks like the top of a gray chimney near the Stone Bridge flag and warp. This power moon is waiting for you at the end of a series of platforming challenges. (You need to beat the game and smash the moon rock before this will be available.)

36. Cascade Kingdom Master Cup

Nintendo

Speak to the Koopa near the Odyssey to run a harder version of the race you already ran, but only if you want a power moon. The key to winning is rolling whenever possible and taking a shortcut, which we’ve immortalized in the image above. (It felt really great to pull off.)

38. Atop a Wall Among the Clouds

Enter what looks like the top of a gray chimney near the Stone Bridge flag and warp. There’s a hidden block above a set of blocks past the first section of obstacles. Jump to hit it, jump again to climb on top of the platform, and follow the path to your left for this power moon.

39. Across the Gusty Bridges

Enter what looks like the top of a gray chimney in the clearing beneath four Chain Chomps. Make your way all the way to the end of this abstract platforming section, and you’ll get the power moon.

40. Flying Far Away from Gusty Bridges

Nintendo

Enter what looks like the top of a gray chimney in the clearing beneath four Chain Chomps. About halfway through, you’ll see the handle above on your left. Throw Cappy into the gusts of wind to collect this power moon.
