If the first season in Stranger Things was lacking anything, it was adorable goofy dances that had potential to become memes.
[Warning: The following contains minor spoilers for Stranger Things 2.]
As people began to marathon Stranger Things 2 this past weekend, certain scenes became early go-to favorites. Mike and Eleven trying to connect in the netherworld, for example, or Dustin’s sweet explanation of the term “Demodog.” One of the best scenes, unanimously agreed upon by all, was Hopper’s goofy dance he performed while cleaning up the cabin for him and Eleven to live in.
As with any type of goofy dance from a notorious pop culture icon (see Mario in Super Mario Odyssey), the internet took up the task of ensuring that Hopper could be seen dancing to an array of songs. There are ‘80s classics, fittingly, like Rick Astley’s “Never Going to Give You up” and “You Make My Dreams” by Hall & Oates, but also modern tunes, such as “Something Just Like This” by The Chainsmokers.
Collected below are some of our favorite dances that we’ve come across on Twitter this Stranger Things 2 weekend:
Like all good movements on Twitter, there’s an official hashtag for the meme: #DancingHopper. As more people make their way through the series, and get to this exact moment, we expect to see even more takes on the dance spring up. There is one remaining question, though: Who’s the better dancer, Chief Jim Hopper or a slick Dustin Henderson?
Stranger Things 2 is available to stream on Netflix now.
