Dust: An Elysian Tail creator reveals Metal Gear Solid-inspired Switch game

Never Stop Sneakin’ coming this holiday

Humble Hearts, the developer behind 2012 action role-playing game Dust: An Elysian Tail, will release its next game, Never Stop Sneakin’, on Nintendo Switch this holiday. The developer’s new game is a big departure from its last — it’s a Metal Gear Solid-inspired stealth game with a weird comedy bent.

According to the trailer’s official description, madman Amadeus Guildenstern has traveled through time and kidnapped all of the U.S. presidents. “Infiltrate the enemy base, avoid their patrols, and hack their systems to gain valuable intel,” Humble Hearts said. “Build your Sneakin' HQ, and figure out how to stop Guildenstern's time-traveling scheme!”

As Never Stop Sneakin’s announcement trailer reveals, the sneakin’ appears to be very fast paced. There’s also plenty of Metal Gear Solid parody happening here; Guildenstern’s vice president is a helicopter, for example.

On Twitter, Humble Hearts’ Dean Dodrill talked about what went into Never Stop Sneakin’s design.

“I had several goals I wanted to accomplish with my sophomore effort as a game developer,” Dodrill said. “I wanted to try something in a completely different aesthetic, and go fully-polygonal in the process. I wanted to create something procedural and infinitely re-playable, and design engaging combat with the simplest controls possible. I think I've accomplished these things, and it's been a thrill to create something completely different from [Dust: An Elysian Tail].”
