John Wick creator to write and produce

Hitman
Io Interactive

Io Interactive’s Hitman is getting another live-action adaptation, this time in the form of a television series for Hulu. Deadline reports that Fox 21 Television Studios and Hulu are developing a new series based on the assassin, with John Wick creator Derek Kolstad enlisted to write.

Kolstad wrote the original John Wick and this year’s sequel. He’s also writing the script for John Wick: Chapter 3, which is scheduled to hit theaters in 2019. According to Deadline, Kolstad’s on board to write the pilot and executive produce the series.

There aren’t many details on the planned series, though Deadline reports that Hitman will “hew closely to the mythology of the perennially popular video game.” The franchise has been adapted into two feature films already: 2007’s Hitman, which starred Timothy Olyphant as Agent 47, and 2015’s Hitman: Agent 47, in which the eponymous assassin was played by Rupert Friend.

Incidentally, Deadline also reports that there are currently two Hitman games in development. Io Interactive has already confirmed it’s working on a new Hitman game, but recently said it doesn’t plan to start talking about the project until sometime next year.

Io Interactive — which became an independent studio earlier this year — recently released a Game of the Year version of the most recent entry in its franchise, simply titled Hitman, which originally hit consoles and PC in 2016.
