Avengers: Infinity War is the first of a two-part series of films that will conclude the current phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, these movies may retire some characters we’ve gotten to know since the first MCU movie a decade ago, 2008’s Iron Man. At this point, dozens of Marvel heroes and villains have appeared in this film saga, which will have surpassed 20 movies by the time Avengers: Infinity War’s currently untitled sequel is released in May 2019.
Following in the footsteps of 2012’s The Avengers and 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War puts the Avengers alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy as they attempt to stop Thanos. Hailing from Titan, Thanos seeks to collect all the Infinity Stones and complete the Infinity Gauntlet to become omnipotent. Here’s everything you need to know in the lead-up to what is poised to be the biggest movie of 2018.
