The original Watch Dogs is available for free for a limited time for those registered for Ubisoft’s Uplay service. The promotion runs from Nov. 7 through Nov. 13 and only applies to the PC version of the game.
Watch Dogs was originally released in 2014 and tells the story of a skilled hacker named Aiden Pearce in a near-future Chicago. The game was lauded for its novel gameplay, which utilized an in-game cell phone to tamper with the city’s infrastructure in unique ways. In Polygon’s review, we said that “as a hybrid open-world stealth-action game, it’s in a class by itself.”
The sequel, Watch Dogs 2, was released just a year ago this month, and moved the setting of the series to San Francisco.
Uplay is Ubisoft’s proprietary game client. Introduced in 2012, it allows users to purchase, download and play Ubisoft games. It also features a friends list and multiplayer features.
While the promotion officially begins tomorrow, we were able to log into our accounts and have the game added to our collection today.
