Nintendo Power is back, not as a magazine covering all things Nintendo, but as an official podcast from the game maker.
The Nintendo Power Podcast is hosted by Chris Slate, former editor-in-chief of Nintendo Power magazine and current manager of corporate communications at Nintendo of America. The podcast’s debut episode features interviews with Eiji Aonuma and Hidemaro Fujibayashi, producer and director of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, respectively. Slate also speaks with Kit Ellis, co-host of the Nintendo Minute YouTube series, and Damon Baker, head of partner management for Nintendo’s publisher and developer relations group (aka the guy who helps bring a lot of indie games to Switch and 3DS).
In the debut episode, Slate said the Nintendo Power Podcast is a “passion project” for Nintendo and that he wanted to see the Nintendo Power brand come back. He added that the podcast’s format is experimental, and it sounds like it’s not clear how frequently new episodes of the podcast will be released. But it’s heartening to see the Nintendo Power logo return, and with an official seal of quality from Nintendo, no less.
The Nintendo Power Podcast is available on Apple Podcasts and SoundCloud. Nintendo says a Google Play version is also coming. We’ve embedded the SoundCloud version below, for easy listening.
