Ubisoft will release new content for Assassin’s Creed Origins in December, including a new difficulty level and a new Horde mode-style quest. Also, it looks like chocobos from Final Fantasy are coming to the game?
In a recent post on the Assassin’s Creed website, Ubisoft announced Nightmare mode, a new difficulty option that will throw “more resilient ... and more dangerous” enemies at the player. The publisher is also tweaking difficulty by adding enemy scaling. “When this option is activated, the game automatically scale (sic) the lower level enemies to your level,” Ubisoft said.
A new quest for Origins will also add Horde Mode-style gameplay. The quest, titled Here Comes a New Challenger, will see players battle unlimited waves of foes in the Cyrene arena. (Ubisoft had originally announced an “early 2018” release for Horde Mode as part of the game’s DLC plan.)
But it’s the new “surprise quest” that Ubisoft teased that seems most interesting. Apparently it involves chocobos. Ubisoft posted the following GIF to tease the unnamed quest:
Of course, Square Enix and Ubisoft already have a relationship that explains why the feathered mounts of Final Fantasy might make a cameo appearance in ancient Egypt. The two companies announced a collaboration between Final Fantasy 15 and Assassin’s Creed Origins this summer, which has already manifested in Square Enix’s role-playing game. Since Noctis and pals can already dress up like Assassins, a chocobo mount in Assassin’s Creed Origins, which already features horses and camels, makes a whole lot of sense. Well, some amount of sense.
Assassin’s Creed Origins is out now on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
