Media Molecule’s Dreams had a lot to show at The Game Awards

Our first detailed look since 2015

Dreams, the ambitious game project from Media Molecule, showed of a lengthy trailer tonight at The Game Awards. It showed more of the game’s main character, as well as its unique content creation system.

Media Molecule is best known for LittleBigPlanet, and Dreams is a likewise a game about creating. The trailer showed off elements of many different game genres, all of which can be built by players using its proprietary in-game tools. Vignettes included a Defender-style arcade game, a flight simulator complete with an in-cockpit heads-up display, multiple platformers and a section not unlike the pod racing scene from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

The main character appears to be a man in a three-piece suit and a fedora who sleeps in a coffin. Troubled by his waking life, it’s up to players to create peaceful dreams for him.

Players will be able to use the Sony Move controllers, as well as the traditional DualShock 4, to play the game. It will be exclusive to PlayStation 4.
