Destiny 2 PvP is basically a laser light show now

Get your Prometheus Lens from Xur and join the fun

Destiny 2’s PvP mode, Crucible, is all about the Prometheus Lens currently. The overpowered and straight-up busted exotic trace rifle added with the Curse of Osiris expansion is the go-to weapon in competitive multiplayer, thanks to its enemy-shredding abilities. (Bungie promises that a fix is in the works.)

So if you want to stay competitive in Destiny 2’s Crucible over the next few days — including in Trials of the Nine, which, yes, is still on this weekend — you’re going to need a Prometheus Lens of your own. Fortunately, weekly vendor Xur is selling the exotic trace rifle for 29 Legendary Shards a pop.

If you’re stuck at work or otherwise unable to get into some Destiny 2’s multiplayer matches, check out the above gameplay clip for a taste of what Crucible is like right now (aka nothing but long-range solar beams* incinerating people in about 0.6 seconds). You’ll see me get repeatedly burned to a crisp as my team gets stomped in Control. Cut me slack, will ya?

Prometheus Lens is supposed to be fixed by Dec. 12, but in the meantime, to level the playing field in Destiny 2, Bungie’s solution is to let everyone have the gun. So have fun.

*OK, so one Guardian showed up to the laser gun fight with a Vigilance Wing.
