Why you should watch
On paper, this may be one of the most mismatched days in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive history. But after a tournament full of complete surprises means that these games certainly aren’t guaranteed to go the way we expect.
The first match of the day will see Fnatic’s core roster, Freddy “Krimz” Johansson, Jesper “JW” Wecksell and Robin “flusha” Rönnquist, go up against former longtime teammate, Olof “Olofmeister” Kajbjer. Fnatic have seen little success since Kajbjer’s departure back in August, while Kajbjer’s new team, FaZe Clan, have seen incredible success. Fnatic have managed to put on an impressive show at this tournament so far thanks in large part to the play of Johansson, but if they are going to upset their former teammate, it’s going to take an incredible effort from all five members of the team.
Meanwhile, the day’s second series, Misfits vs SK Gaming is likely to be a pretty one-sided affair. Misifts have had a good tournament — David “devoduvek” Dobrosavljevic has been a particular standout — but SK Gaming has been far and away the best team in professional Counter-Strike for almost a year now, with no signs of slowing down. If Misfits manage to win this series, it would be one of the most unprecedented upsets in the game’s history.
