Marvel releases first look at Avengers: Infinity War

It’s all about Thanos

Marvel has released the first look at Avengers: Infinity War, including behind-the-scenes moments with the cast and more information on what the movie’s plot is about.

The clip, which can be seen above, starts off with a message about the Infinity Stones. The stones, which were first introduced in Captain America: The First Avenger and the Tesseract, are six very powerful objects that are found within the universe. According to Marvel’s Wiki, the six stones, which are also referred to as Infinity Gems, “possess unique capabilities that have been enhanced and altered by various alien civilizations through the millennia.”

The video features a couple of actors from different phases of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU) including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) and Tom Holland (Spider-Man). Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, is also featured in the video, talking about how Infinity War will unify all of the movies that take place across different universes.

Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe as started in May of 2008 with Iron Man 1,” Feige says. “It really is an unprecedented culmination of a series of films interlinked together.”

Feige also added some more information on Thanos, one of the main villains the MCU has been building up to since the first Avengers movie in 2012. Feige has previously spoken about Thanos’ involvement in the film, most recently referring to the villain as the main character of Infinity War.

“How do you do that in a way that’s unexpected that pits the Avengers, [who are] more powerful than anyone they’ve ever faced and yet make them completely unprepared to face him? Well, tear them apart,” Feige said. “That’s why we did Civil War before.”

Feige added that Thanos will “show us” why he’s the most frightening villain the Avengers have ever had.

There are also interviews with directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who explain how important the large roster of characters are to Infinity War, and talk about what people can expect out of seeing the Guardians of the Galaxy team on screen with the Avengers for the first time.

Avengers: Infinity War will be released on May 4, 2018.
