Star Wars: Han Solo spinoff’s first cast photo is pretty cozy

And by “cozy,” we mean cramped

star wars story Lucasfilm

Production recently began on the next Star Wars Story, an untitled project based on the young Han Solo. A blog post on the Star Wars website updated fans with the first photo of the primary cast all together, and they’re looking ... really, really comfortable with each other already.

Several of the film’s stars, from Alden Ehrenreich (baby Han Solo) to Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian), get up close and comfortable inside the Millennium Falcon for the inaugural production photo. Sidled up alongside them are Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the film’s co-directors.

There’s also Emilia Clarke and Phoebe Waller-Bridge — each of whom are playing unnamed characters — on deck, with the very accommodating Woody Harrelson (Garris Shrike, Han’s mentor) looking especially squished. The one we feel the absolute worst for, however, is Chewbacca. Joonas Suotamo, the actor who took over for much of Chewy’s scenes in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is practically hunched over right into Donald Glover, who doesn’t look super appreciative of the close contact.

Notably absent from the cramped cuddle cave is Thandie Newton, the Westworld star who recently joined the cast. She’ll have to catch up on all that cast bonding later on, it seems.

The photo doesn’t give us a ton more info about the upcoming film, which hits theaters on May 25, 2018. Now that production is underway, we expect more details — like a title — in the coming months.
