A new, nearly 5-minute prequel for Alien: Covenant premiered tonight during the third episode of FX’s Legion.
The prequel focuses on the crew of the Covenant, giving them one last dinner before entering cyrosleep. This is the most in-depth video Fox has released for the upcoming film following the first trailer that was released on Christmas Day. The short film is mostly positive, showcasing the team as a tight knit family unit, but the foreshadowing for what’s about to come is certainly there.
When the first trailer for the film was released, it quickly came under scorn from fans of the Alien franchise who criticized the tone of the movie. A couple of days later, a video editor recut the trailer, which appealed to fans of the original franchise.
Alien: Covenant picks up after the events of director Ridley Scott’s 2012 film, Prometheus. The members of the Covenant discover what they assume to be an uncharted paradise, but that all changes very quickly.
Alien: Covenant, which stars James Franco, Danny McBride, Michael Fassbender and Katherine Waterston, will be released on May 19, 2017.
