Watch the Nintendo Switch ‘Nindies’ showcase here

More than 60 indie games coming this year

Nintendo is poised to demonstrate some of the independent games coming to the Switch this year during a special showcase and you can watch it right here. The showcase kicks off at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET.

Last week, Nintendo confirmed that only three indie games would be available to purchase on the eShop on March 3: Fast RMX, Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment and Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove will be available to download on Switch launch day. Nintendo said there will be more than 60 indie games available to play on the Switch this year, including a port of The Binding of Isaac and a new game from Towerfall developer Matt Thorson called Celeste.

Polygon confirmed last week that three titles supposed to launch with the Switch may not make the deadline after all. Tomorrow Corporation’s slate of indie games, including World of Goo, Little Inferno and Human Resource Machine, may be pushed back to allow the team more time to work on them. In an interview with Polygon, Tomorrow Corporation’s Kyle Gabler said the games will eventually be released but considering the size of their team — just three people — and the amount of work needed to develop the titles, they may not be ready for March 3.

If you’re looking to purchase a Nintendo Switch but don’t have one pre-ordered, you may be in luck. More than 600 Best Buy locations will be selling a limited supply of consoles at midnight to those who didn’t pre-order one when the console’s release date was first announced on Jan. 13. For other stores, be sure to check out Polygon’s guide of where to go to pick up a console.
