The new Blaster Master looks very good

Coming very soon to Nintendo Switch and 3DS

Nintendo’s Virtual Console won’t make the launch of Nintendo Switch, but a handful of indie games — Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment, Shakedown: Hawaii, Pocket Rumble — arriving at or near the system’s launch will offer plenty of retro Nintendo vibes. Nostalgic Nintendo fans can add Inti Creates’ Blaster Master Zero to that list, as it looks a hell of a lot like its 8-bit ancestor.

Blaster Master Zero will bring back the side-scrolling vehicular combat and top-down adventuring, Nintendo said in a press release, from the original NES Blaster Master. But it promises “new and improved gameplay systems” and some unannounced cameos — so don’t be surprised if, say, Inti Creates’ Gunvolt makes an appearance.

Blaster Master Zero will include a cooperative two-player mode and will incorporate the Switch’s “HD Rumble” force feedback effects.

Inti Creates will release Blaster Master Zero on March 9 for Switch and Nintendo 3DS. The game will cost $9.99.
