Transformers: The Last Knight Super Bowl spot promises the end of the world

The final fight for mankind

The apocalyptic war between humans and Transformers has come to a head in the new Super Bowl 51 clip for Michael Bay’s upcoming Transformers: The Last Knight.

The movie, which marks the fifth in the franchise, is a direct sequel to 2014’s Transformers: Age of Extinction and follows the ongoing war transpiring between humans and Transformers. With Optimus Prime out of the picture, it’s up to Bumblebee, Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), an English Lord (Anthony Hopkins) and an Oxford professor (Laura Haddock) to dive deep into the Transformers’ history to try and figure out how to end the war.

All of which can be seen in the spot above. Although it’s only 30 seconds, the teaser does end with a climactic fight between two Transformers and features a voiceover from Hopkins asking why the Transformers continuously return to Earth.

Transformers: The Last Knight will be Bay’s final installment in the Transformers franchise. It will be released in theaters on June 23. The Super Bowl will take place this Sunday, Feb. 5 at 6:30 p.m. ET on Fox.

Update: Paramount Pictures UK tweeted out an extended version of the spot. It can be seen below.
